Now in its third year, the annual Flavours of Metro Street Party will see the heart of Southport come alive with a killer program of events kicking off at dusk. The street party will run in conjunction with the monthly Chinatown Street Markets (we told you it’s going to be big), with Australia Fair Metro’s diverse collection of restaurants and eateries staying open alongside 20-plus street-food stalls to take the event to delicious new heights. So, if you’re yet to experience the likes of local dining spots like Kubo’s Bar and Grill, Woka Woka, Fen Ku Guilian Rice Noodle, The Burrito Bar and Paris Brest, then this is your chance.
Funk-heavy band Burger Joint will set the scene early on, before popular local DJ Little Fritter turns up the heat from 6:00 pm. The Gold Coast’s own party starters Tijuana Cartel will play a free live concert on the main stage, sending eclectic and dance-worthy beats through the precinct from 7:00 pm. Hot tip – grab a spot at one of the restaurants for front-row seats to the percussion-heavy, toe-tapping show. The Flavours of Metro Street Party kicks off at 5:00 pm on Saturday October 6 (park right nearby at Metro, it’s free!) with the mouth-watering action continuing until 9:00 pm. Oh, and one more thing – arrive hungry and ready to dance.
