Beers, bites and beats – venture south to Stone & Wood’s annual brewery party, Festival of the Stone

Fresh beer, food trucks and live music – is there a better combination? We think not. If you're keen to get stuck into all three, then make sure you've got Saturday June 8 in your diary – because Byron Bay's Festival of the Stone is back and you need to be there! The wildly popular festival, put on by craft-beer wizards Stone & Wood, is set to be bigger and better in 2019, with the sell-out event to be held for the first time at the newly opened Stone & Wood brewery in Byron Bay.

If you’re yet to check out Stone & Wood’s flash new Byron Bay brewery and tasting room, then Festival of the Stone is the perfect excuse to get down there. Kicking off at 3:00 pm on Saturday June 8, the ticketed event will unravel across the afternoon and into the evening with a killer bill of live music featuring headliner and punk-pop queen Alex Lahey, plus Alice Ivy, local soul songstress Lisa Hunt, Dusty Esky, Bunny Racket and more! The beats will be accompanied by a delicious line-up of food trucks and, of course, plenty of Stone & Wood brews. This year’s Festival of the Stone will celebrate the release of its limited-edition seasonal Stone Beer – a woodfired stout brewed with hot stones, crafted to pay homage to beer-brewing ancestors. It’s been brewing away in the tanks in preparation for Stone & Wood’s biggest party of the year – and you’ll be one of the first to try it on June 8!

All of that beer tasting will surely entice your appetite – luckily the likes of Spice Pirate BBQ, Gunter’s Flammkuchen and mobile Mexican Zicatela will be on deck serving delicious plates and snacks, while the tiny tackers will be kept occupied by Spaghetti Circus in the Malt Disney kids area. While beers, beats and bites are the drawcard, this family-friendly event is about more than that – last year Festival of the Stone raised $17,000 for Stone & Wood’s national not-for-profit, the inGrained Foundation, which it donated to Northern Rivers-based Big Scrub Landcare. The chosen charity for this year’s festival is yet to be announced, but when you’re buying your ticket and rounds of beers on June 8, know that you’re making a difference. Tickets to Festival of the Stone are $45, which includes a tasting of Stone & Wood’s seasonal limited Stone Beer. It’s always a sellout, so make sure you get in now and nab yours online.
