A grande Cinco de Mayo celebration is coming to Live on The Lawn

It's already one of the Gold Coast's must-visit venues, but The Lawn at Garden Kitchen & Bar is kicking things up a notch for Cinco de Mayo at its Live on The Lawn sessions from Thursday April 29 to Sunday May 2! The completely free music event has been drawing crowds of live-music lovers from across the coast as part of The Star's 40 Days of Flavour festival, which is now being given a Mexican twist for a long weekend of good vibes, great bites and unmissable music.

Live on The Lawn’s top-notch line-up of entertainment is being taken to the next level with the addition of a roving Mariachi band to complete the Cinco de Mayo festivities, treating event-goers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5:00–9:00 pm and from 4:00–8:00 pm on Sunday May 2. If you haven’t had a chance to peep the Live on The Lawn schedule for the weekend, here’s your chance – Thursday April 29 will see Elliot Hahn performing from 5:00–9:00 pm, while Marshall Kondratiew and Allopa will be bringing the party vibes from 5:00 pm to 12:00 am on Friday April 29. DJ James Canning will kick off the dance floor from 5:00 pm, with Confidence Man taking over for a highly anticipated DJ set at 8:30 pm. Saturday night event-goers are also being treated to a fireworks display at 10:00 pm – you don’t want to miss this! On Sunday afternoon, songstress Ash Riske will be serenading the crowd with her laid-back tunes for a cruisy afternoon session, accompanied by the Mariachi band from 4:00–8:00 pm.

A Cinco de Mayo fiesta isn’t complete without the addition of a feast, and the Container Kitchen will be offering some Mexcellent additions to the menu. Whether you’re in the mood for pulled-pork nachos, beef-brisket tacos or sweet potato empanadas with bajan spiced avocado dip, there’s ample opportunity to fuel up for an evening of dancing. End things on a sweet note with crispy churros dusted in cinnamon sugar with chocolate dipping sauce. Keep an eye out for a range of Mexican-inspired additions to the drink menu, which will be carefully crafted featuring Herradura Reposado Tequila to accompany the range of delicious bites.
