There is no better cure for the post-weekend blues than basking in the sunshine with a cocktail (or rosé, lager or whisky – however you roll) in hand, so we’re digging the fact that sophisticated Sunday sessions are back in vogue. The team at Southport’s Aviary Rooftop Bar are throwing a fun rooftop soiree every single Sunday, which kicks off at 12:00 pm and runs through to 10:00 pm for the late-night revellers. Each Sunday a different local musician will take the stage from 2:00–6:00 pm with a series of acoustic scores (keep up to date on who’s playing over here), setting the scene while you make very important decisions like what to drink and nibble.

You could just take the easy way out and leave it up to the mixologists, with a new cocktail special on offer each Sunday. Aviary’s cocktail offering here is equal parts jazzy and enchanting, featuring everything from Prosecco-based floral concoctions through to tipples like the chilli-infused Red Hot Bird, as well as ‘healthy’ cocktails made with coconut water, kombucha and acai – so you can safely assume the weekly special is going to be something delicious. If wine is more your style, you can indulge in a glorious gourmet cheese platter with all of the trimmings, which is served with three tasting glasses of different wine varieties, while the craft-beer swillers can sip on cheap schooners of Stone & Wood and Adelaide’s Pirate Life and not think about work the next day.
