After a successful launch in 2020, Aussie Artisan Week returns to continue its support of local makers and producers from August 16 to 23. Aussie Artisan Week founders and our favourite butter makers Pierre Issa and Melissa Altman of Pepe Saya Butter Co have joined forces with makers from across the country to encourage foodies and lovers of handmade wares to consciously choose to support locally made products – whether it be by scoring fresh produce from the nearest farmers market, shopping on a local high street or buying online direct from artisans.
Along with Pepe Saya, other brands actively taking part in Aussie Artisan Week include Crumpets by Merna, Country Valley Dairy, Pecora Dairy, Zokoko Chocolate, Sobah Beverages and many more. In the lead up to the week-long event, the fine folk behind Aussie Artisan Week will be sharing stories of homegrown artisans on its Instagram and encouraging all Australian artisans and supporters to get involved by sharing their handmade products and purchases – which is as easy as tagging them and using the hashtag #AussieArtisanWeek. Aussie Artisan Week will continue to update its website so people can find brands getting involved and local farmers markets to visit around the country. We suggest you have a peep here, but be warned, shopping hungry can lead to a hefty amount of purchases. Seriously, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
