If you’re a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and think you have a penchant for tickling people’s funny bones, then this is your moment. Joel Creasey has put out a casting call in the hopes of growing diversity and inclusion on the comedy circuit. On Wednesday August 3, comedy up-and-comers can take the stage alongside Joel for a five-minute set at Atrium Bar at The Star Gold Coast. Budding comedians are encouraged to register online to ensure they don’t miss out. If you’d rather just sit back, relax and have a laugh, then you’ll be happy to know that the show is completely free to attend. The Camp Comedy casting call will kick off with opening acts from 7:30 pm, before Joel takes the stage at 8:30 pm, and the amateur acts get started from 8:45 pm.
All that laughing is sure to work up an appetite – thankfully Atrium Bar is offering an exclusive menu filled with delicious cheap eats on the night. You can wrap your laughing gear around $10 pizzas (with toppings including roasted pumpkin, mushroom, capsicum and olives, and pepperoni with Napoli sauce, red onion and oregano), fries with aioli, onion rings, seasoned wedges and salt-and-pepper calamari.
The laughs will keep rolling long after Joel and his crew leave the stage with comedy (and cheaps eats) continuing every Wednesday night for Hump Day Comedy from September 14. Presented by Gold Coast stand-up comedy and entertainment legends Based Comedy and brought to you by Byron Bay Brewery, each Wednesday will present a new line-up of local and national comedians. This mid-week perk-up is free to attend, so gather your crew, settle into one of the comfy bean bags and sip a brew while you laugh. Walk-ins are welcome for both Joel Creasey and Hump Day Comedy, though we recommend emailing [email protected] and booking a table if you plan on bringing a few friends.
