International cabaret icon Le Gateau Chocolat is teaming up with drag identity and acclaimed cabaret artist Jonny Woo to bring us A Night at the Musicals, which has been touted as an evening of ‘unadulterated musical theatre nonsense’. The colourful production will bring some of the world’s most loved musicals to the surface in the most raucous of ways – think ballsy ballads, devilish duets and famous show tunes that have been elegantly slaughtered.
Yes, that’s right – slaughtered. Le Gateau Chocolat and Jonny Woo will massacre all of your musical favourites – everything from Les Miserables, Hair and Wicked will be given a hilarious and truly left-of-centre twist. So, who exactly are these delightful divas? Well, Le Gateau Chocolat is a London-born Nigerian performer, who started out as a lawyer before discovering his gender-bending alter ego and eccentric talents in the dark arts of musical theatre. As for Jonny Woo – he’s a London-based performer that has earned his cred for taking alternative drag to mainstream audiences … and he’s also known for his outrageous parties (we’d like an invite). Combine those two talents with the creative team at Strut n Fret and you’ve got yourself a recipe for theatrical brilliance.
Friends, this is going to be a crazy ride – jump over here to grab your tickets.
