Soak your worries away at the newly opened Talaroo Hot Springs

Our sunny state is brimming with things to do and though travelling options are somewhat limited at the moment, our own backyard has plenty of spots to explore. A four-hour drive out of Cairns is where curious thrill-seekers can find The Savannah Way’s newest tourist attraction, Talaroo Hot Springs, which has just opened to the public.

Located 360 kilometres west of Cairns in the outback of Tropical North Queensland sits one of Australia’s most unique geological wonders –  Talaroo Hot Springs. The storied destination is now more accessible than ever, with a newly opened outback caravan park and campground welcoming its first visitors in June. Set just 200 metres from the breathtaking Einasleigh River and a stone’s throw from the thermal hot springs, Talaroo Hot Springs is the perfect place to park up and soak your worries away.

Ewamian Elder and cultural advisor for Talaroo’s tours and experiences, Jimmy “JR” Richards has developed a jam-packed program at Talaroo, which spotlights the significance of the site to visitors. Guests can go on a hot springs discovery tour for a deeper insight into the area, take a self-guided trek and share stories at a nightly Yarning Circle around a fire pit. The cherry on top of the whole experience is, of course, the hot springs, where guests have the opportunity to book private soaking pools so that they can relax in the geothermal waters. If you’re planning on staying overnight, the bucket-list worthy spot features a host of creature comforts and offers 16 powered and 14 unpowered sites around purpose-built amenities as well as a large camp kitchen. To learn more about Talaroo Hot Springs, head over here.
