Let’s start from the first stop, shall we? Helensvale station will connect you and the kids to the theme park hub of Australia. Simply transfer from the tram to the TX7 bus, which will drop you off for an unforgettable day at Wet ‘n’ Wild, Warner Bros Movie World, Dreamworld, Top Golf and Australian Outback Spectacular. If you’re hoping to spend the day at Sea World, you’ll need to ride the G: to Main Beach or Southport and transfer to the 704 bus. A few stops further south from Helensvale will bring you to Nerang Street, where you can hop off and catch a movie at the brand new Dendy Cinemas in Southport. With blockbusters like Thor: Love and Thunder and Jurassic World: Dominion set for release soon, Dendy is the perfect pit stop (especially if the weather isn’t behaving). Nerang Street is also the best stop for the Southport library, which hosts frequent kids workshops and a bounty of children’s books and activities to keep the little ones entertained without the need for a screen. If the kids are peckish, one stop on the G: will have you in Southport – home to some of the Gold Coast’s best authentic Asian cuisine.
As you continue south, you’ll quickly find your way to the Broadwater Parklands. Here you can let the little ones run wild to explore the rock pools, three different playgrounds, the park’s famous bouncy pillow and the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. There are also plenty of grassy spots for you to set up shop for the day, enjoy a barbecue by the water and soak up some much-needed vitamin D. Heading further south will bring you to the ever-busy Cavill Avenue and Surfers Paradise. Cavill Avenue offers a plethora of iconic Surfers Paradise experiences, including the Sling Shot ride for adrenaline seekers, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, Timezone arcade, Padlockd Escape Rooms, Strike Bowling and Holey Moley mini golf, just to name a few. Cavill Avenue is also the best stop to get off for direct access to the Surfers Paradise beach and the night markets held on the Esplanade every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening.
Last but not least are the Broadbeach North and South stops. Broadbeach North is a great place to finish the day and treat the family to a delicious dinner at any of the surrounding restaurants, bars and cafes. On the other hand, Broadbeach South gives you direct access to Dracula’s Cabaret (something for the older kids and adults) and Gold Coast’s shopping mecca – Pacific Fair. Here you can shop until you drop, with food courts and retailers aplenty. Pacific Fair is also home to Event Cinemas, and is known to host a huge line-up of school holiday activities to help keep the little ones entertained while you’re splashing some cash.
