Here’s all of the ideas you need to plan the ultimate Gold Coast hens party

So, you've been tasked with organising your best friend's hens party. The only thing is, you're under a strict 'no stripper' order and your gal pal isn't the clubbing type. Planning the perfect hens weekend is no mean feat, especially when you're trying to stick to a budget, have some fun and avoid the usual hens night tropes. The Gold Coast's glimmering shores and vibrant nightlife make it the perfect party occasion, but if you're trying to steer clear of that scene and opt for a more wholesome affair, it can be hard to plan a suitable itinerary. Luckily for you, we've done the rounds to compile a list of the least-tacky ideas that will save your bride from a 2:00 am kebab in Cavill Avenue, and provide a fitting send-off into married life.

Dabble in some day drinking with a bottomless brunch
Brunch truly is the superior meal. Want pancakes? No worries. Prefer a burger? Of course! Cater to every craving in your group and book yourselves in for a delicious brunch at any of the Gold Coast’s best cafes. Many of which will happily upgrade your dining experience to include bottomless mimosas or cocktail jugs to create a truly elevated dining experience. It is a celebration after all!

Sweat and stretch your way through a private pilates or yoga class
Start your hens weekend by moving your bodies through a private yoga or pilates class. Classes can be tailored to your group’s needs and skill levels and, depending on the facilitator, can be run in a studio, on the beach or at your accommodation. Some of our favourites include Yoga in Paradise on Chevron Island, Floating Lotus in Helensvale, Essence of Living in Mermaid Beach and Ritual in Palm Beach. Those looking to try something unique can also consider a private pole dancing class with the expert instructors at Pole Catz, where they offer a range of beginner pole classes as well as burlesque, twerk and lap.

Say wine-not to a day in the vineyards
If wine is your bride’s love language, then a wine tour should be #1 on your itinerary. A range of options departing the Gold Coast will take you and the bride tribe to some of the best wineries and cellar doors in South East Queensland. Check out Cork’n Fork and The Vino Bus, both of which offer a private tour with multiple tastings, knowledgable guides and a two-course lunch.

Channel Patrick Swayze at Sip and Sculpt
While paint and sip is an obvious choice, why not take it a step further with a clay and sip workshop? Stoka Clay Studio is nestled in the Currumbin Valley and is fully equipped with kilns and equipment, meaning you’ll have all the tools to realise your pottery hopes and dreams. You can book private hand building and pottery wheel workshops for four to 26 people, depending on what you’re hoping to create. Not only can you use this as an opportunity to disconnect and hang out with the bride, but everyone will be left with a clay memento to take home. The spacious studio is the perfect place to unwind, dip into your creative spirit and enjoy a glass or two of bubbles. While we’re on the topic, if you are keen on a paint-and-sip workshop – let us recommend Bare Art. You’re welcome.

Challenge each other to a few hours of fun
If you subscribe to the belief that growing up is a trap, we recommend embracing your inner child and heading to Hijinx Hotel for a few hours of fun. Hijinx Hotel is home to ten immersive hotel-esque rooms where players can work together to complete challenges in rooms filled with giant pianos, basketball hoops, huge Scrabble-like games and a candy-coated ball pit. The bonkers-big venue also hosts Archie Brothers Cirque ElectriqHoley Moley and features three bars, 72 arcade machines, six bowling lanes, ten immersive game rooms and 18 holes of golf. Once you’ve had your fill of fun, make your way to the bar to enjoy the Instagram-worthy Bubble and Pop cocktail or fill up on some flavour-packed nosh.

Bust a move at Sip and Dance
Are you keen to sip without getting your hands dirty? Look no further than Sip and Dance, the perfect way to entertain a group looking to let their hair down and boogie. Host Christie-Lee will run the group through two beginner routines over three hours. You can take your pick from a range of themes, including Fifty Shades Burlesque and Beyonce Hip Hop, before letting loose on the dance floor with your besties. All the dancing can leave you hungry, which is why Christie-Lee will happily provide some delicious personalised grazing boxes for you to nibble on between moves.

Unwind at a bathhouse
Planning a wedding is hard work. Treat your bride to a few hours of relaxation and bliss at any of the picturesque bathhouses and day spas on the Gold Coast. Bathhouses like Greenhouse and Soak cater to bigger groups, allowing you to move between spas, saunas, steam rooms and a cool plunge over a 90-minute stay. If you need some real RnR, be sure to book in for a massage while you’re there. Fair warning, though, you may need to schedule a nap after your treatment!

Pink Flamingo

Soak up the glitz and glamour of Pink Flamingo
Would you rather leave the dancing to the experts? Pink Flamingo in Broadbeach is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular hens party destinations, offering four different shows from Thursday through Sunday. Whether you want to soak up the glitz and glam of Hollywood, surrender to some late-night lust, party with some oh-so-fabulous drag queens or live out your Magic Mike fantasies, there is a show to sate every appetite at Pink Flamingo. The venue is no stranger to a hens party, so be sure to inquire about what deals and packages are available for your special bride.

Escape reality with VR experiences
If your bride is keen to try out some of the latest tech fun, look no further than FREAK VR at Paradise Centre in Surfers Paradise. This immersive experience boasts a four-player Arena, VR Escape Rooms, VR Laser Tag, VR Arcade and FREAK Drive, which provides ultra-realistic racing stimulation on more than 80 major circuits from around the world. If you can’t get enough of the virtual world, head to the ground level towards Holoverse Dinosaur World & Aquarium. With holographic experiences for all ages and interests, you can come face-to-face with real-size dinosaurs, dive beneath the sea at an aquarium, challenge the gals to some Holosports or test your skills in the Holographic Monster Escape Room or the Holographic Arcade.

Let your creativity run wild with a crafternoon
The Craft Parlour in Burleigh Heads is the perfect place to sit back and try your hand at a range of arts and craft activities, including basket weaving, resin jewellery, embroidery, candle making, macrame, soap making, knitting, mosaic … you name it, they probably do it at the Craft Parlour. Peruse the monthly schedule to see if there is a workshop that tickles your fancy – otherwise, reach out directly to choose a day, time and workshop that best suits your group. Eden the Flower Shop is another company that will come to you, bringing everything you need to make a beautiful flower crown.

Dance the night away in style
If your bride is keen to boogie but would prefer to avoid the conventional clubs, then a night onboard the YOT Club may be the perfect answer. Setting sail from Mariners Cove in Southport, the YOT Club is a fully licensed luxury yacht offering lunch and evening soirees out on the Gold Coast Broadwater. With the option to hire a private booth on a range of cruise times, YOT Club is an elevated and extra special way to make your bride’s hens a memorable affair.
