Get a taste of the rural life with Tiny Away’s first Queensland tiny house

Sure, the temps may be low and it's harder with each passing morning to escape our toasty beds but we're calling it – winter is the perfect time to explore the great outdoors. If you're up for a spot of adventure, Tiny Away's small homes make for the ideal getaway. The company's latest tiny house, Kookaburra Cabin, is ideally situated on a property just 90 minutes out of Brisbane and is its first off-grid offering in Queensland.

For those who like the concept of a little bit of time in nature but aren’t accustomed to camping, Tiny Away’s tiny houses are the next best thing. The company has more than 75 short-stay accommodation options sprawled across Australia, which are set on private land in rural and regional locations – places that might not get as much action as the usual tourist spots. Using a profit sharing arrangement that sees landowners earning up to 45 percent of rental revenue, Tiny Away partners with property hosts on a mission to create rare accommodation experiences.

Tiny Away’s first Queensland abode, Kookaburra Cabin, is set on a lush 17-acre property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland near the small rural town of Palmwoods. A step up from glamping, this adorable pad boasts all of the creature comforts of a normal-sized home including a queen bed, air conditioning, a bathroom with a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin and shower (gas heated for hot showers) and a kitchenette with a portable cooker, microwave and even a mini fridge. Outside you’ll be met with a cast-iron fire pit perfect for perching around under the stars as well as a bevy of friendly furry faces that might say hello – including horses and a farm dog.
