Shining bright – Jupiters officially becomes The Star Gold Coast

In case you've been living under a rock (we know that's a nice place to be sometimes), Jupiters is now officially known as The Star Gold Coast. Got it? Cool. So, the exciting new name and brand has paved the way for some pretty exciting new developments as the city's icon enters a new era. Here's the low-down.

After opening its doors for the first time in 1985 (woah, now we’re feeling old), The Star Gold Coast property has now entered into the next phase of its redevelopment. The exciting new era has already seen the refurbishment of 596 hotel rooms, an additional six new restaurants, cafes and bars, and a revamped luxury poolside experience in the existing five-star property. There’s currently a new six-star luxury hotel taking shape at the front of the Broadbeach Island site, which will be open before the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The hotel will feature spacious suits and rooms, as well as new bars and restaurants, private gaming rooms and butler service.

Approval has recently been received for an additional 200-metre hotel and apartment tower, which takes the overall combined investment in the project to $850 million. Subject to pre-sales, initial works on the 4.5-star tower are expected to start in late 2017, with the 700-key complex to include an exciting new restaurant and bar concept, plus a luxury day spa. Due for completion in 2020, the additional tower will increase The Star’s overall accomodation offering to almost 1400 rooms. We’re digging the shiny new name and we’re even more excited for the opening of the luxury six-star hotel before the Commonwealth Games kick off next year.
