There are defining moments in every city’s story. Milestones that, upon reflection years later, ultimately altered its trajectory. This is one of ours. This Thursday, June 23, the Gold Coast’s prized jewel The Langham, Gold Coast will welcome its very first guests. As the first development with direct beach access to be built in the city in more than 30 years, the project has raised the benchmark to superlative new heights and ushered in a luxurious new era of staying and playing on the Gold Coast. Boasting 169 lavish hotel rooms and 17 different room types alongside 170 apartment-style residences, The Langham, Gold Coast has delivered an elevated take on accommodation, boasting a mix of breathtaking ocean and hinterland views, a host of modern amenities, a dreamy coastal palette and, of course, a bevy of signature dining experiences to enjoy. The hotel’s renowned opulence has also extended into some pretty impressive guest facilities including a swim-up pool bar.
No hotel is complete without a spectacular gastronomic offering, and friends, The Langham, Gold Coast does not disappoint. The establishment has recruited hotel dining industry veteran Craig Robertson to lead the team as executive chef. Craig will work closely with the newly appointed executive sous chef with global expertise, David Vandenabeele (West Hotel Curio by Hilton) and industry-leading pastry chef, Ryan Stevenson, who was twice awarded Belgium Chocolate Master (2008 and 2010), maker of the 2009 Best Praline in the World and the only Australian to have been the Director of a Chocolate Academy. This week, we’ve been given our first taste of The Langham, Gold Coast’s signature dining options, which includes the iconic Langham Afternoon Tea in Palm Court. Overlooking the cerulean coastline is Akoya, a casually sophisticated all-day dining destination that presents some of Australia’s finest meat, fish, and poultry, as well as handcrafted cocktails, while 26 & Sunny invites you to step off the sand and into a sandwich with a light and bright offering of specialty coffee, juice and a seriously drool-inducing selection of deli sandwiches. Still to come will be Coral Moon, an open-air destination bar shaking up innovative cocktails and the jewel in the culinary crown, T’ang Court, which is a sister venue to The Langham’s signature Michelin-starred destination for fine Cantonese dining.
