Nikau opens homewares and ceramics space in Byron Bay

Botanical and clay emporium Nikau has expanded from its space in Newrybar Merchants and is bringing its handcrafted wonders toward the coastline with its flagship store on Fletcher Street in Byron Bay now open.

Nikau (pronounced nee-co) is a collaboration between designer and ceramicist Nicole Steele and florist and botanical stylist Nikki Pocock – and what an unbelievably creative combination it is. The duo have brought together a collective love of all things botanical and handcrafted to offer thoughtful, functional and sustainable designs not only to the local northern New South Wales community, but also around the world.  The new Byron Bay store is an expanded ‘green’ version of the space that was created at Newrybar Merchants, with a flower bar (so rad) offering simple yet beautiful blooms, hard-to-find plants plus artworks and ceramic works by renowned potters.

Nikau will also host workshops on the new deck, featuring sessions on clay building, floral design and plant education. The space will also offer floral styling for weddings and events. Nikau is currently Australia’s only stockist of textiles and wallpaper brand Justina Blakeney and also showcases a series of both local and Australian brands and designers including Magnolia Home, A Question of Eagles, The Object Enthusiast, Sit Still Lauren, A Public Holiday, JJJ Ceramics, Paterson & Steele, Pop & Scott, Dharma Door, Herbivore Botanicals, Shannon Fricke, Tigmi Trading, Byron Bay Hanging Chairs, Angus & Celeste, Emma Gale, Mr Jason Grant and Botanica Boutique.
