Southport Sharks gets set for a $25-million Mantra hotel

One of Queensland's largest clubs, Southport Sharks, has joined forces with Mantra Group to launch a new Gold Coast hotel – Mantra at Sharks.

Construction has begun on the $25-million project, which is due for completion in early 2018, just in time for the Commonwealth Games. Architectural firm GroupGSA have worked closely with Southport Sharks to create an authentic hotel experience, with guests able to integrate into the club for the duration of their stay. The design is inspired by the site’s undulating typography along with the unique identity of Southport Sharks, and is set to feature a striking entry statement for both the hotel and the club. The reception and foyer areas are set to put a modern architectural spin on a traditional Queenslander-style verandah, with a shaded connection between the new hotel and the existing club entry.

The new Mantra at Sharks will become one of the northern Gold Coast’s premier corporate and leisure hotel, featuring 120 rooms and 209 car parks, whilst boasting state-of-the-art design features. The new hotel will provide a unique offering to the area, as well as resolve the club’s accommodation demands from existing markets, including weddings, business events and the growing northern Gold Coast.
