Southport on the rise – first stage of $2.3-billion Imperial Square project launched to the market

The first stage of what will eventually become a $2.3-billion residential, retail and commercial precinct in the heart of Southport has been officially launched to the market. Imperial Square, located in the suburb's CBD, will be rolled out in four stages over the coming years. Upon completion, it will incorporate around 1,600 dwellings and more than 40,000-sqm of commercial and retail space – and it's also set to be home to Australia's tallest residential tower.

Developer Azzura, led by Robert Badalotti, has recently released the project’s first stage – 145 luxury residential apartments (one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations) known as Regal Residences. Rising 18 levels, the stage will also incorporate a 4.5-star hotel with 200 suites and two luxury rooftop penthouses with skyline views. Construction of the Regal Residences is due to commence in October.

The following stages of Imperial Square include the 48-level Monarch Place, the 68-level Imperial Tower, and finally a 108-storey stage called The Majesty, which is set to become Australia’s tallest residential tower. Upon completion, the sky-high master-planned precinct will include commercial and business spaces, restaurants and an atrium bar, a rooftop infinity pool, facilities like a sauna, steam room and gym, outdoor dining and barbecue areas, as well as impressive views of the Gold Coast. Imperial Square will come to life on a 1.34-ha site on Meron Street in Southport – a site currently occupied by Azzura’s Mercato on Ferry precinct.
