Greenfolk expands its urban jungle to a leafy new space in Burleigh Heads

When it comes to house plants, we firmly believe that you can never really have too many. In fact, on the contrary – the more the merrier! Adding pops of greenery to your abode is a arguably the easiest way to breathe some life into a space and a guaranteed way to lift your mood. Plants are also excellent at purifying the air, seriously – the only thing they can't do is look after themselves (if only!) and truth be told, some of them can be pretty needy. If you struggle to know how often to water or how much sunlight your seedlings need to survive – you need Greenfolk in your life. It's a happy place for green thumbs, plant nerds and lovers of homewares.

If you had the pleasure of visiting Greenfolk’s original nook underneath Sunbeau Court apartments, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the new plant paradise that’s perched next door to Tarte Bakery & Cafe on West Street in Burleigh Heads, except now there’s more of it – hooray! Nestled under the canopy of the fairy-lit Fig tree, Greenfolk’s new terrarium-style botany shop showcases eye-catching and hard-to-find plants, ranging from polka-dot begonias to prickly cacti, sitting pretty alongside colourful hand-painted and one-of-a-kind ceramics from boutique Australian brands such as Mowgli Studio, and organic plant care to keep your flora in tip-top health. Greenery fills every nook and cranny of floor space and cascades down from the ceiling (proving our earlier point that you can never have too many house plants) but be warned, you’re guaranteed to get serious plant envy.

The space is lovingly curated by well-regarded horticulturalist, landscape designer and Burleigh local Emily Cloke, who has translated her passion for plants into a commercial reality. Emily specialises in hand selecting quality plants that are able to thrive in our sub-tropical climate and will equip you with loads of handy hints and tricks to ensure your new plant pal will survive (looking at you, serial plant killers).
